AI-first strudel music engine. A quick tour, then you're free.
Cycletron runs fully by hand — editor, samples, MIDI, the whole engine. The AI composer is there if you want it, and it stays off until you turn it on.
When you're ready, hit Enable AI… in the AI panel and pick a provider. It's your call, any time.
Where Cycletron keeps the patterns you save and the MIDI conversions you import. You can move it later from Preferences.

Press Play, open Examples, and load Lesson 1. The left panel is the AI Operator; Files is your library.
Help → User Guide, Keyboard Shortcuts, and Dialect cover the rest. If anything breaks, Help → Show Logs for a diagnostic dump.
The active set is the base sound world for playback and export — switching reloads the audio engine. Sets marked not downloaded are fetched from their upstream repos on demand; pick one to download it, then pick it again to switch. Downloads resume, and sets that share a source share one copy on disk. Define your own in sample-sets.json in the app data folder.
Optional sample packs live in your library under Packs/. Enabled packs add their banks on top of the active set.

Cycletron does not host, mirror, or license any of this audio.
You download it under whatever terms that site states; Cycletron only imports
files you already have. Imported packs are recorded as
LicenseRef-UserProvided — a marker meaning “the user supplied
this”, not a grant. Check each source’s terms before you release
anything made with them.

Suggestions and hover help sourced from the strudel-rs DSL surface. Toggle live from the command palette too.
Shares tempo and bar phase with Ableton Live, Bitwig and any other Link app on the network. Discovery is automatic — there is nothing to configure. While Link is on the session owns the tempo, so a pattern's setbpm is ignored, and Play waits for the shared bar line before starting.
Streams /cycletron/cycle, /cycletron/transport and /cycletron/hap — point Hydra, Resolume, TouchDesigner or a lighting rig at it. Onsets are frame-accurate (~16 ms), which suits visuals rather than driving a sampler.
Repaint Cycletron from your desktop's colours and follow it when you switch themes. Off means the neon palette stays put.
